The donation will help Just Us Cats continue their mission of rescuing and placing adoptable cats. Their organization, which serves eastern Sussex communities, also traps, neuters, vaccinates and returns feral cats. Shepard's Office Georgetown

On the morning of July 7, 2021, the CAPE Business Network presented a check, food and supplies to Jim Martin, Director of The Shepard’s Office, Georgetown DE. Sheppard’s Office, in conjunction with community volunteers, help our homeless and hungry by offering food, water and clothing, no questions asked. In addition to serving over 100 meals each day they serve, Sheppard’s Office solves more complicated problems like providing housing, transportation, medical emergencies, utility shut-offs, emergency motel stays and case management assistance. Sheppard’s Office provides free lunches on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 to 1, dinners on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 6. On the Morning of July 12, 2017 the CAPE Business Network presented a check to Connie Holdridge, Program Manager of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC), at the Lewes Diner restaurant in Lewes DE. The DBCC is a non-profit organization serving to raise awareness of breast health issues in Delaware through outreach, education and support to help facilitate early detection and treatment of breast cancer. DBCC has developed and implemented programs tailored to the unique needs of different populations and has trained health care providers on providing culturally competent care. They have conducted many educational sessions for the general public through corporate and community organizations. In addition, DBCC has referred thousands of uninsured adults for free and low-cost cancer screenings, and has removed barriers to cancer screenings and treatment by providing interpretation, transportation, and support services. The mission of Clothing Our Kids is to improve the lives of at risk elementary school children by providing them with appropriate school clothing. In Sussex County many children do not have essential school clothing which has a direct negative impact on their self-esteem, their school attendance, their ability to learn, and can lead to bullying. Clothing Our Kids’ goal is to assist these youngsters with an equal start in their early education and help them become successful students. On the Morning of February 22, 2017 the CAPE Business Network presented a check to Tish Brey, Representative of the Harry K Foundation of Rehoboth Beach, at the Lewes Diner restaurant in Lewes DE. The Harry K foundation, established by Harry Keswani, has vowed to raise money and donate 100% of these proceeds to help Halt Childhood Hunger in Delaware. Henlopen Food Basket

On the morning of February 24, 2016 the CAPE Business Network presented a check to John DeVoll, Board President of the Henlopen Food Basket, at the Ocean Grill restaurant in Lewes DE. The Henlopen Food Basket is made up of about 85 volunteers from the Lewes Rehoboth Association of Churches that lends a helping hand by serving between 220-240 hungry families each month. Since there are no salaries at the Food Basket, the CAPE's donation goes towards the organization’s administration's costs. To get more information or make a donation, please call (302) 227-3528.

Lewes Little League

November 6, 2015

On the morning of November 4, 2015 the CAPE Business Network presented a check to Jim Baker and Jim Hart of the Lewes Little League, at the Ocean Grill restaurant in Lewes DE. The Lewes Little League is the oldest and largest youth organization In Lewes serving over 300 youth participants each year. The CAPE's donation goes towards the organization’s capital campaign efforts for the renovation of their existing field house and new field lighting replacement projects. Work has begun on the field house renovation through the donated efforts of our surrounding community, local businesses, and contractors. The CAPE Business Network presented a check to Janet Redman CAMP/Mautner Cares (CMC) on the morning of April 10, 2013 at the Ocean Grill in Lewes DE. CMC is the Rehoboth Beach branch of the Mautner Project in Washington, DC. Established in 1990, the CMC was formed by the National LGBT Health Organization and provides support, education and advocacy to any individual in need.

CAPE Business Network supports MERR

January 20, 2013

The CAPE Business Network presented a check to John DeVoll, the new Chairman of the Food Bank of Delaware's Rehoboth Chapter on the morning of January 16th. The Food Bank of Delaware’s mission is to assist those in need of food and basic sundries. The Food Bank is always in need of food and donations help to bolster the pantry and other charitable endeavors. They normally have between 70-80 volunteers and help about 240 families a month.

CAPE Business Network supports MERR

October 13, 2011

The CAPE Business Network made a generous donation to MERR the morning of October 12th, at IHOP on Rt 1 in Rehoboth, DE.  Peggi Hurley presented the check to Suzanne Thurman representing the Marine Education, Research & Rehabilitation Institute, Inc.  In addition to supporting one another and their respective businesses, members of the CAPE Business Network subscribe to a mission statement that emphasizes aiding the community through active involvement with local charitable organizations.  The Network wished to support MERR, which provides rescue and response to stranded marine mammals and sea turtles occurring in DE, since 2000.  In the 11 years since it’s inception, MERR has provided stranding response for over 1100 animals, and served more than 100,000 people with their education programs.  MERR has over 100 volunteers who assist us in providing this service to our community.

The CAPE Business Network made a generous donation to Delaware Hospice the morning of July 6th, at IHOP on Rt. 1 in Rehoboth, DE. Donna Zetts presented the check to Peggy Dolby and Allen Morris Representing Delaware Hospice. The Network wished to support Delaware Hospice because of the help they give to families and to people that are transitioning from this life. They offer Care in the Home, at the Delaware Hospice Center, at Facilities, Family Support, Coping with Serious Illness and Camp New Hope for children and teens to 17 years of age.

Members of The Cape Business visited the New Beginnings school in West Rehoboth where they donated supplies, toys, a fruit basket and funds for the children of this facility. We had the opportunity to meet Miss Brenda who gave us a guided tour of the facility. CAPE Business Network supports Lewes Fire Co

May 27, 2009.

Cape Business Network President Bryan Hecksher and members of the organization presented a cash donation to the Lewes Fire Department. President Craig Stephens, Lewes Fire Department, accepted the donation for their new fire boat at The Auto Gallery on Savannah Road. Fire Chief, Henry Baynum, honored them with a visit of the Station 82 fire truck. Cape Business Network believes in supporting the local community in a variety of ways. In addition to currently collecting canned food for several local organizations that help to feed local people on a regular basis, they will be presenting a similar donation to our local Meals on Wheels.
